Match the cash in hand with the books.

Count at the start of the day

Before work begins, count the money in the drawer. Compare it with the previous closing balance. Record your actual count so it is easier to compare again at closing.

Keep funds separate

Cash in the drawer, mobile wallets and other funds are separate. Customer dues are not cash. If a sale has a split payment, check each part.

Keep differences visible

Count again in the evening. If there is a difference, check receipts, returns, collections and transfers. Record the reason and an authorised correction, then close the day.
