Deposits and dues are different.

One is money held for a customer. The other is money you still need to collect.

A deposit comes first

Illustration: a customer leaves ৳500 for goods they will collect later. You hold that money for the promised goods. It is not the same event as collecting ৳500 against an old credit sale.

Choose the right action

Use the deposit when supplying the goods, refund it or retain it as customer credit. Check the customer and the remaining deposit before confirming.

Keep the paperwork clear

A sale bill, collection receipt and deposit slip explain different events. Keeping them distinct helps you answer what the customer paid for.

  • Confirm whether money is for an old due or future goods.
  • Record the receiving fund.
  • Review both the due balance and deposit balance.
